Legal & Disclaimer

Please take a moment to read the information below. It explains, in plain language, what we do and do not do, and the terms that apply to consultations with The Food Intolerance Clinic.

Who we are

This website and the services described on it are provided by The Food Intolerance Clinic, the practice of Douglas Mizzi, Clinical Nutritionist (ATMS Member No. 8079).

The Food Intolerance Clinic is operated by The Trustee for Mizzi Family Trust, ABN 56 970 090 739, of 66 Goonawarra Drive, Mooloolaba, Queensland 4557. In these terms, “we”, “us”, “our” and “the clinic” refer to that entity.

What we do

We are clinical nutrition practitioners. Our role is to help you identify potential food triggers and environmental factors that may be contributing to how you feel, and to support you with nutrition, healthy eating and lifestyle guidance.

We use a detailed personal and family history, a lifestyle review and practitioner assessment to build a picture of your individual situation and suggest a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan.

Where we refer to the MSA-Pro, this is one of the tools we use to help identify potential food triggers. It is used in conjunction with our expert clinical experience and always interpreted by an experienced practitioner. The MSA-Pro is a support tool — it is not a diagnostic device, and on its own it does not diagnose any condition.

What we do not do

We are not medical doctors. We are clinical nutritionists. We do not provide medical advice, and nothing we say or provide should be understood as medical advice.

We do not diagnose, and this website does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, illness or medical condition. Identifying a potential food trigger is not a medical diagnosis.

Information on this website is general in nature and is provided for educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for advice from your treating doctor or other qualified health professional. Using this website or contacting us does not create a doctor–patient relationship.

Results vary from person to person, and we do not guarantee any particular outcome. You should never disregard, delay seeking, or stop professional medical advice because of something you have read here or been told in a consultation.

Working with your doctor & medications

If you have a medical condition, we strongly recommend that you continue to work closely with your prescribing general practitioner (GP) or specialist.

We will not take you off any prescribed medication. Any decision about your medication rests with your prescribing doctor. In some cases we may formulate a nutrition and lifestyle protocol designed to help reduce reliance on certain medications over time — but only ever as something to explore in conjunction with, and under the guidance of, your doctor.

Please tell your doctor about any nutrition or lifestyle plan you are considering, and continue to follow their advice.

Our philosophy

Our approach is strongly grounded in nutrition and healthy eating and lifestyle principles. In many cases we offer an alternative line of enquiry to what a GP may be able to offer.

This does not make our approach better or a replacement for medical care. It simply gives you another opportunity to investigate your health from a nutrition and lifestyle perspective, alongside the care of your doctor.

Zoom consultation refund policy

Zoom consultations are booked and paid for in advance through our automated online payment system. When you pay for a Zoom consultation, you are reserving and paying for the practitioner’s dedicated time and preparation for you.

Once a Zoom consultation has been paid for, the payment is non-refundable. Because the consultation time is set aside and prepared specifically for you, we are unable to offer refunds, including in “change of mind” situations after payment has been made.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to reschedule your consultation to another suitable time.

Governing law & jurisdiction

These terms, and any consultation or service provided by The Food Intolerance Clinic, are governed by the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia.

You agree that any dispute or legal matter arising in connection with our services or this website will be dealt with exclusively by the courts of Queensland, and not in any other State or Territory of Australia.
